Cispheil Na mBunscoil
2064 primary school children from 105 Cork Primary Schools took part in this year's Cispheil na mBunscoil. The 4 day event which is the largest primary Schools Basketball event in the Country featured 172 teams playing competitive, non-competitive and Basketball for All games across 3 Cork venues.
Cispheil na mBunscoil was established by the Cork Basketball Boards with support from the Cork Sports Partnership in 2010. Since the establishment of Cispheil na mBunscoil, participation in the event has progressively increased from 500 participants across 50 teams in 2010 to 2064 participants across 172 teams in 2017.
Cispheil na mBunscoil aims to introduce Basketball to primary schools of various sizes and abilities throughout Cork City and County. The mass participation event affords all Cork primary schools and children with an additional opportunity to participate in Basketball in an organised Fun environment.
It is also the aim for this to be an inclusive event, comprising of primary school students of all abilities. 60 children with disabilities took part in this years Basketball for All event from 5 Cork Special Schools.
