Community Coaching Programme Opportunity 2016

 

Are you  interested in a career in sports coaching or in being more involved in sports in your community? Get involved in this free course!

Cork Sports Partnership has recently secured funding from Sport Ireland and the Dormant Account Fund to roll out 4 new Community Coaching Courses in Cork. These courses are targeted at the delivery of specialised training and education courses for jobseekers including work experience opportunities in sports clubs, Community Centres etc.  The programme will focus on training and capacity building for job seekers in the sports sector. Eithne Hammond, Programs Manager for Cork Sports Partnership is delighted to announce a partnership with Cork ETB, WCAP, SECAD, Cork City Partnership and the HSE. ‘We are running a course in Midleton, Bantry and 2 City locations (CSN and The Glen Sports & Resource Centre). The 14 week course will commence the week beginning 2nd November 2015 and will run for one day during the week’

The course aims to assist the successful candidates to gain employment, coaching, volunteering and further education opportunities in the sports sector as coaches and physical activity leaders.

Certified Coaching Courses will include – FAI Kick Start 1, GAA Foundation, Rugby, Basketball, Disability Awareness Training, First Aid and many more.

“This course provides great way for people to up-skill in the area of sport, exercise and physical activity while also provides an opportunity for people to engage more in the local community” commented course facilitator James Kirby. 

The modules in the Course will consist of Job Readiness and Personal Development, Sports Coaching and Physical Activity Training as well as Work Experience. Some weekends will also apply.
