Cork Primary Schools Tug of War Programme 2017
The Irish Tug of War Association and Cork Sports Partnership have teamed up to roll out a Primary School Tug of War Programme in 2017. The programme will run across a limited number of Cork primary schools between Easter and the summer holidays.
The aim of the programme is to introduce 3rd & 4th class primary school children (Boys, Girls & Mixed) to the Sport of Tug of War in a supportive environment. In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive the following:
- Coaching Session
- Tug of War rope
- Coaching Resource Pack
- FREE Entry to the inaugural Cork Primary Schools Tug of War event in May 2017.
How much does the programme cost?
This programme is valued at over €300 per school and is heavily subsidised by the Irish Tug of War Association and Cork Sports Partnership. The programme will cost each school €50 to take part in which will be payable upon acceptance to the programme.
Maximum Capacity per School:
30 per class session with a maximum of 3 class sessions (90 children) per school for this phase of the programme.
|Steps involved in the Application Process|
Step 1: School registers 3rd & 4th classes to participate in the Primary Schools Tug of War Programme by completing the programme registration form by Friday 7th April.
Step 2: Registration will be acknowledged by Cork Sports Partnership following closing date on 7th April.
Step 3: Successful schools will be contacted by Cork Sports Partnership to confirm acceptance on to the programme and invoiced €50 to take part. Unsuccessful schools will be placed on a waiting list for future phases of the programme.
Step 4: Following receipt of payment, the Irish Tug of War Association will contact all successful schools to arrange a suitable training day in the school.
Step 5: An Irish Tug of War Association coach will deliver the training session as agreed with school.
Step 6: School Teachers will deliver weekly Tug of War lessons in the lead up to the Tug of War event which will take place on Tuesday 30th May in a Cork City venue. In the event that a large number of schools are located in the same area of Cork, an alternative venue/blitz day may be arranged to minimise travel.Step 7: Schools will be invited to take part in the inaugural Primary Schools Tug of War blitz for FREE in 2017.
