Cork Sports Partnership hosts first ever Springboard Workshop

Gymnastics Ireland and the Cork LSP collaborated to run a special 'promotional' workshop specifically for coaches who had attended the first module of the Cork Coaching Forum. The pre-launch workshopgave thirty coaches from a range of sports including rowing, camogie, soccer, badminton, gaelic football, karate and tennis an oppurtunity to get a sneak preview of the Springboard programme run by Aimi Baker and Garrett Buckley of Gymnastics Ireland.

Springboard is a practical-based coaching workshop designed by Gymnastics Ireland, focusing on the Fundamental Movement Skills(FMS) of gymnastics and how they benefit players/atheletesin all sports. The course complimented the Cork Sports Partnership first module on FMS and Physical Literacy which was rolled out in November.

Coaches who attended the workshop which took place in Colaiste Choilm, Ballincollig, found it to be extremely beneficial and looked forward to taking the information they learned back to their clubs.

The Cork Sports Partnership will continue to roll out more workshops in the coming months in a bid to provide coaches in Cork with the opportunity to continuously upskill themselves.
