Event Partners 2018

This year we are delighted to have Down Syndrome Cork on board as event partners. Cork Sports Partnership will also be supporting DSC and their members with a walk-jog programme and event in the lead up to the Cork Rebel Run on Sun Oct 21st.

As event partner of the Cork Rebel Run 2018 Down Syndrome Cork will provide support in the following ways:

  • Volunteers on the day of the event
  • Facilitating waterstop on 10k route
  • Encouraging  their members and families to get involved in the event and physical activity programmes

In return for the above DSC will increase their visibility in the Cork community

Who we are

Down Syndrome Cork is the Cork branch of the national organisation, Down Syndrome Ireland. In Cork, we have over 360 member families across the city and county.

Our aim

  • to provide support and resources
  • to encourage active participation in the community
  • to foster positive attitudes
  • and most importantly to help individuals with Down syndrome reach their full potential

What we do

We are parents working together to support each other and our families and we welcome any suggestions that you, as parents, think would benefit our families.

Support is necessary for anyone born with Down syndrome from birth throughout life.

We invite you to explore our website and find out more about our services, events and our plans for the future. Meet some of our families and you will see why we do what we do.

Field of Dreams is an arm of Down Syndrome Cork focusing on supporting adults with Down’s syndrome in the Cork region. We know that adults with Down’s syndrome can and do live fulfilling lives but they can also meet with obstacles. We know that 95% of adults with Down syndrome are unemployed. We believe that this need not be the case. In a horticultural setting in Curraheen, Cork, we offer training and supports for adults. With thanks to so many supporters, we have been operating on a pilot basis since September 2017 with plans to expand in 2018.
