Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I enter online? Yes, you can enter online at www.corkrebeltour.ie
- Can I enter by post? Yes, you can enter by post. You can download an entry form from the “Registration/Entry form” section of this website.
- What is the closing date for entries? The closing date for entries is strictly Wednesday the 8th of September. There will be NO registration facility on the weekend of the event.
- What is the entry fee? There is no entry fee for the Rebel Pedal family fun cycle. Both The Rebel Rider and Rebel Challenge are €40 for entry. The Rebel Rush (mountain biking experience) is €25 for the day. Enter an event on both days for €50.
- What does my entry fee include? Your cycle entry pack will include: your receipt of registration, route map and additional information. On the day you will receive a souvenir jersey, a goody bag, refreshments en route and at the finish as well as cycle support services.
- What if I can’t make the cycle on the day? Unfortunately there is no facility for a return.
- How can I check that I am entered? Online and postal entrants will receive confirmation of entry along with an information pack which will be sent out when entries are processed.
- What time can I sign in on the weekend? Sign in for all events except The Rebel Pedal will commence from Friday September 10th in the Cork showground’s from 5pm until 8pm. From Saturday 11th of September from 7 a.m. until 9.30 a.m. at the Cork Showground’s and on Sunday September 12th in the Ballyhoura Forest from 11 am until 6 p.m. Sign in for the Rebel pedal will be on Saturday 11th September from 11 am at the Grand Parade.
- What time can I collect my goody bag? Goody bags collection will take place when participants come to sign in.
- Can I change from one route to another after registration? Riders can change between the Rebel Rider and Rebel Challenge after registration but must make this clear when they come to sign in.
- What time does my event start?
- The Rebel Pedal will begin at 12 noon
- The Rebel Rider will begin at 10 am
- The Rebel Challenge will begin at 8.30 am
- The Rebel Rush will begin at 12 noon
The official start for all Saturday events is the Grand Parade in Cork city while the Official start for all Sunday events is the Ballyhoura Forest.
- Is there free parking? Yes, on Saturday 11th of September a limited number of parking spaces will be provided for all participants at the Cork Showground’s where each route is due to finish. On Sunday 12th of September parking will be provided for all participants in the Ballyhoura forest car park.
- Are there changing and shower facilities? Yes, changing, toilet and shower facilities will be provided for all participants in the Cork Showground’s and also in the Ballyhoura forest.
- What do I need to bring with me? A hard shell helmet is compulsory for every participant. Don’t forget your bike, spare tube, pump and gear. We would advise each participant to bring food and drink, there are food stops on the routes and food will be available back at the show ground’s and the ballyhoura forest. Please also keep an eye on theweather forecast so that you can prepare for the day. (sunblock, rain gear etc)
- Must I be over a certain age? There is no age requirement for the Rebel Pedal. However, the minimum age requirement for the Rebel Rider is 14 years as of the 11th Sept 2010 and the minimum age requirement is 16 years for the Rebel Challenge as of the 11th of Sept 2010. The minimum age requirement for the Rebel Rush is 14 years as of the 11th of Sept 2010.
- Do I need permission from a parent/guardian to participate? Yes, if you are under the age of 18 you must have permission from a parent/guardian (signature required on the entry form).
- What first-aid facilities will be available on the day? First aid will be provided on the day by the Red Cross. There will also be service vehicles for mechanical difficulties as well as the broom wagon which will provide transport to the finish should the route get too much for participants.
- Where is the official finish? On Saturday 11th of September the official finish for each route will be the Cork Showground’s where food stalls, music and entertainment will be provided. On Sunday 12th of September the official finish for each trail will be the Ballyhoura Forest where again food stalls and music will be provided.
