Highlights of Past LSP Walking Initiatives

Review: Cork Walking Month 2010

Over 700 people participated in the inaugral Cork Walking Month in September 2010. Of those that participated 33 % were either non walkers or from non registered clubs. Feedback received from participants was positive in terms of creating awareness of the walking clubs in Cork and of walking opportunities in Cork.

Resulting Impacts of the Cork Walking Month 2010:

  • More organised opportunities to walk in Cork.
  • Better interaction between walking clubs and groups.
  • Increased physical activity
  • Increased awareness of walks and walking opportunities
  • Increased opportunity for membership in clubs and groups.
  • Unified approach toward the development of walking in Cork.
  • Informal opportunity for the public to meet with club members.
