Primary & Secondary - Orienteering

Irish Orienteering Association and Cork Sports Partnership are now taking registrations for the Cork Schools ‘Ready to Go Orienteering’ Programme 2018. The pilot phase of the programme will operate for a limited number of Cork schools between the Easter break and the summer holidays.

‘Ready to Go Orienteering’ is an Irish Orienteering Association initiative, aimed at introducing and promoting the sport of orienteering into schools and provide teachers with the necessary training and resources to successfully implement the programme in a school setting.

In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive a subsidised teacher training day on Friday 13th April in Mayfield Community School/Sports Complex, a resource folder, equipment pack and school mapping service. Schools have the option to pick and choose from different elements of the programme. An additional subsidy is available from Irish Orienteering Association for DEIS schools availing of the full programme. Please contact the office for more information.

We anticipate running additional strands of the programme in Cork County in the 2018/2019 school year. This will be determined by the capacity of Irish Orienteering Association to deliver training following this pilot programme.
