Cork Secondary Schools Volleyball programme 2018
Volleyball Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership have teamed up to roll out a Secondary Schools MIDI VOLLEYBALL Programme in 2019. The programme is limited to 6 secondary schools in Cork between February – March 2019.
The aim of the programme is to introduce the fun and exciting game of volleyball to secondary school students. Over the six-week duration students will engage to develop skills, confidence and team bonding with their fellow classmates.
Programme Outline:
- Teacher training workshop (Bishopstown Community School, 10am – 12pm, Thurs 14th February 2019)
- Allotted 5-week time frame for training sessions from teachers within their own schools
- Free fun blitz for 1st and 2nd year students on Thurs, 28th March 2019 in Neptune Stadium
Following the workshop on Midi Volleyball (4 v 4 on a badminton sized court) Volleyball Ireland will provide teachers with the following:
- Teacher Training Workshop for x 2 teachers
- Online teacher resource pack that includes 6 weeks of fun drills and games
- 10 volleyballs and a volleyball net
- 2 year’s affiliation with Volleyball Ireland
- Free Entry to the Schools Blitz
This programme will cost €130 per school. This programme is heavily subsidised by Volleyball Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership.
Steps involved in the Application Process |

Step 1: School registers 2 x teachers to participate in the Midi Volleyball programme by completing the programme registration form with Cork Sports Partnership Step 2: Registration will be acknowledged by Cork Sports Partnership. Step 3: Successful schools will be contacted by Cork Sports Partnership to confirm acceptance on to the programme and invoiced €130 per school to take part. Unsuccessful schools will be placed on a waiting list for future phases of the programme. Step 4: Following receipt of payment, Cork Sports Partnership will contact all successful schools to confirm the training workshop venue on Thurs 14th February 2019. Step 5: A VI Licenced coach will run the teacher workshop from 10am-12pm on Thurs 14th February 2019. Step 6: Teachers will be afforded a 5 week period to train 1st and/or 2nd year students. Step 7: A fun MIDI Volleyball Cork Blitz will take place on Thurs, 28th March 2019 in Neptune Stadium. Step 8: Schools will be encouraged to take part in the Volleyball Ireland national school competitions that run throughout the school year. |
