Cork Sports Partnership has partnered with the HSE Health Promotion & Improvement Division and Physiotherapy Department to deliver this exciting programme in Cork. Delivered over 10 weekly sessions in a community setting, the Staying Fit for the Future – Better Balance programme is an enjoyable on your feet exercise class.
As one ages, reaction times, bone health, strength, balance, and flexibility of tissue may become impaired. The aim of this programme is to help prevent this deterioration in adults by challenging and training the main components needed for maintaining good independent movement. Classes focus on strength, flexibility, range of movement, and balance to ensure environmental factors such as steps, paths, darkness, hills, etc will not become an obstacle to enjoying an active and healthy life.
This programme is suitable for adults who walk unaided and want to stay strong on their feet and falls free for life. It is not suitable for people who have fallen in the past 12 months or who use a walking stick or frame.
