Cork Sports First Tee Programme

Cork Sports Partnership in conjunction with the Irish Sports Council, and the First Tee of Ireland have come together to implement 2 new first tee Golf projects in Cork.
These projects are aimed at introducing Golf and the First Tee curriculum to boys and girls aged between 10 and 18 years of age who would ordinarily not have access to the game of golf and its positive values. The 2 projects will have 12 participants on each. Candidates will be selected by First Tee Ireland and completion programmes.
The First Tee of Ireland programme:
- Students will be introduced to the Life Skills curriculum at the PLAYer Level
- PLAYer consists of 12 x 1 hour classes delivered over a 12 week period
- Classes are delivered on site at the Golf course using practice facilities and a combination of indoor and outdoor activities
- Opportunity to progress to the next level upon completion of PLAYer.
Aims:
- Increase participation in Golf
- Break social barriers to participation in Golf
- Teach participants the core values of Golf that can be transferred into everyday life
Target area:
- Boys and Girls between 10 and 18 years of age
- Those who ordinarily would not have access to the game of Golf
