Sports Inclusion Disability Officer

Cork Local Sports Partnership CLG wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified persons for the contracted post of Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) PART-TIME

The main function of the post is to increase the participation of people with disabilities in sport/physical activity and to ensure that local resources are used to best effect to facilitate inclusion.  

The Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) will work in a coordinating capacity with all relevant stakeholders to increase and sustain participation opportunities for people with disabilities. The part-time SIDO will work in conjunction with the current Sport Inclusion Disability Officer in a job-sharing capacity with Cork LSP for the coordination and management of sport inclusive programming across Cork.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate proven experience of sports development and disability sport / adapted physical activity. Excellent networking, leadership, planning, organisational, IT and communication skills will also be a prerequisite for this post.

This post is for a 1-year fixed-term contract accompanied by an attractive remuneration package based on relevant qualifications and experience.

Essential Requirements:
The Candidate must have:

  • Degree in Sports Development, Leisure Management, Health Fitness & Leisure Studies, Adapted Physical Activity, Community Development, Health Promotion or other relevant discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • An understanding of the barriers and motivational issues affecting participation in sport and physical activity of people with disabilities. 
  • Relevant marketing experience in the tools and strategies used to develop public campaigns from concept to execution. 
  • Good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Good analytical skills and computer skills.
  • An ability to work independently to a tight schedule.
  • Evidence of excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • High levels of initiative are encouraged.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly – both orally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills when working with a range of groups.
  • Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
  • Translate strategy into operational plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader project management and administration processes.
