Cork Sports Partnership are delighted to announce the launch of the Active Cork Communities Resilience Fund, this fund is part of the Government’s response to support the physical activity and sports sector through COVID-19.  With the support of Sport Ireland, Cork Sports Partnership seeks to support community sports & recreational facilities and amenities, and disability groups / organistions to rebuild their capacity. Cork Sports Partnership recognise that these groups and facilities are key to the delivery of sport and physical activity programmes and events to people of all ages and abilities in communities across Cork City and County.

Following the Sport Ireland, COVID-19 Small Grant Scheme, Cork Sports Partnership identified the lack of opportunity for community based facilities and amenities, and groups who support people with disabilities in sport and physical activity to source access to funding. Cork Sports Partnership highlighted the need for funds to be made available to enable community facilities and amenities, and disability groups to provide opportunities for children, young people and adults to be active in Cork, while living with Covid 19.

The Active Communities Resilience Fund is broken in two subcategories:

  • Sports & Recreational Facilities Resilience Fund. This fund is aimed at not-for-profit community-based sports, recreational, and leisure facilities. It is also open to amenity sites such as parks and playgrounds currently managed by community & voluntary groups.

  • Cork SportsAbility Resilience Fund. This fund is aimed at groups and organisations who support people with a disability to be active, e.g. disability services, community / parent led disability support groups and disability sports clubs.
