On Saturday April 6th Cork Sports Partnership and Cork SportsAbility Forum will host Cork SportsAbility Day proudly sponsored by Blackwater Motors. Cork SportsAbility Day will take place on Saturday 6th April in Mardyke Arena from 11-2pm. 

The aim of Cork SportsAbility Day is to increase awareness of sport and physical activity opportunities in Cork City and County for people with ​disabilities. Download poster here 


Cork SportsAbility Day is open to people with a disability, parents, teachers, sports coaches, health professionals, fitness professionals, youth club leaders and anyone who has an interest in making their sport or physical activity accessible for people with a disability.

This year’s SportsAbility Day will showcase a wide range of sports and physical activities presented to you by National Governing Bodies of Sport,  local sporting clubs and organisations. All of these agencies aim to increase the number of people with disabilities leading active and healthy lifestyles.  Click here to download the schedule:

Cork SportsAbility Day 2019 will see the following key sport and physical activity aspects to the event:

Information & Guidance:
  • Supporting clubs and community groups who would like to increase their knowledge and skills in providing activities for people with a disability.  Providers Include: Watersports Inclusion Games, CARA (Inclusion – Sport – Ireland), Special Olympics Munster, Rebel Wheelers, SailAbility Kinsale, National Learning Network and Triathlon Ireland to name a few.
Activity Taster Sessions:
  • Providing people the opportunity to try and experience activities and sports tailored for people with a disability. Providers Include:  Tennis Ireland Enjoy Tennis Programme, Rowing Ireland Rowing For All Indoor Programme, Rebel Rockets Young Athletes Programme and Mardyke Arena Indoor Climbing Wall to name a few.  
Activity Demonstrations:
  • Showcasing disability sports in action. Providers Include: Rebel Wheelers IWA Sport Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby, Mallow Barbarians IRFU Adapted Tag Rugby to name a few. You will be welcome to join these activities at any stage of the day.
Sensory Room:
  • The Sensory Room is a key part of the day and will be available for any visitors who need some quiet time during the day.
