Cork Walking Week

Cork Walking Week 2018 has a number of low level community walks and introductory hillwalking events for you to take part in.  

These walks are low level, sociable walks suitable for beginners and those looking to get active through walking. Each event is led by trained and experienced Walking Leader and are designed to be fun, safe and enjoyable.

* PLEASE NOTE:  Please wear suitable walking shoes and gear on the walks. In the event of incremental weather walks may be cancelled so you are advised to contact the leader in advance.

Sunday 20th May:

**Additional Information:

1.This is a long moderate-strenuous hillwalk on open hills and country roads with excellent views of Dunmanus and Bantry Bay. (Boots, raingear, warm clothes and lunch required). 

2. This family orienteering event includes basic navigation on forest roads & paths with insruction. Bookings should be made with Sean Cotter prior to arrival. There is a small change for this event (€15 for Families, €8/adult, €4/junior and €5 for students)

3. An easy/moderate hillwalk to promote hillwalking to beginners of Claragh Loop, Millstreet.

4. This walk is being organised to get families active in their neighbourhood. The walk will go from Cushing Rd to Pophams Park before having a picnic on site. Contact Sharleen Lynch if you would like to take part. 

5. This walk is being organised to include a number of secondary schools on the northside and encourage students to get active for Cork Walking Week 2018. The event will leave North Mon Secondary School and follow the local tslí na tsláinte route. 

6. This event is to encourage 1st & 2nd Class pupils to walk more to local amenities. There will also be a small orienteering event as part of the walk along the way to Fitzgeralds Park.

7. This walk is open to beginners and those new to walking. Its a flat walk through Ballincollig Regional Park. 

8. Basic navigation on forest roads & paths with instruction for schools. This is a schools orienteering event and must be PRE-BOOKED in advance by contacting Sean Cotter on the above details. A small cost of €2/pupil applies.

10. This event is being organised as part of Cork Walking Week 2018 to promtoe walking to youth projects. A number of youth projects are encouraged to attend, with refreshements following the event in the Glen Resource Centre. 

11. A neighbourhood walk to encourage communities to walk together. The walk will take in the Fairfield before returning to Fairfield Meadows for light refreshments. This event is open to all including strollers/buggies. 

12. This is a moderate hillwalk to Sugarloaf Hill with some steep climbs. Open to walkers with a moderate level of fitness.

​16. Cork Rebel Ramble: The Cork Rebel Ramble is the focal event for Cork Walking Week 2018. With 5k, 10k and 20k options to choose from there is a walk to suit all levels. The event takes place in Kilavullen and takes in the Kilavullen National Looped Walks as well as the local Nano Nagle River Walk and Railway Walk.
