Northside Sports Hub

The Northside Sports Hub project is funded by Sport Ireland through the Dormant Accounts Fund (DAF).

The Northside Sports Hub is a collective of schools, sport and recreation facilities, sports clubs and local organisations that wish to work together to; support, promote, encourage and create a culture of sport and physical activity offered to their local community. The focus of the Sports Hub is to increase sport and physical activity opportunities for people in the Northside of Cork City.

The Northside Hub looks to:

  • Grow sport and physical activity participation numbers.
  • Offer a variety of physical activities and sporting opportunities to the local communities.
  • Bring the appropriate stakeholders together with the overall goal of promoting, supporting sport and physical activity in the local community.
  • Provide information, support and advice on a wide range of sports and physical activities to make it easier for people in disadvantaged areas to get involved and engage in a more active and healthier lifestyle.
  • Create collaborative sports and physical events.
  • Promote and support sport and physical activity training and development programmes/initiatives.
  • Create a social environment that engages members of the community.
  • Create a bottom-up community led approach to sports and physical activity.
  • Promote and support sports and active community groups already in operation through education and collaboration.
  • Promote community leadership through sport and physical activity.
