SCAR - Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race

SCAR - Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race takes place on Saturday 19th October 2019 starting & finishing from Castlehaven GAA in West Cork. 



SCAR offers 3 courses ranging from an entry level 17km through to a thigh busting 76km route catering for the beginner through to the elite athlete and involve a mix of running, cycling and for the the Sport & Expert courses kayaking as well.

  • EXPERT 82.5k (Run 12km – Cycle 35km – Run 7km – Kayak 1.5km – Cycle 22km)
  • SPORT 58.5k (Run 6km – Cycle 22km – Run 7km – Kayak 1.5km – Cycle 22km)
  • TASTER 23k (Run 6km – Cycle 17km)

SCAR brings men and women together from all ages and backgrounds (main age category is 30-45 years). Some are seasoned, competitive adventure race athletes whilst others are in it just for the personal challenge or simply as beginners trying out our Taster course. However, the shared bond that binds them all together is the incredible feeling of satisfaction and elation felt when they haul their tired bodies over the finish line...and to make it feel even better they know they’re raising money for charity.

SCAR is managed by a special race team on behalf of Skibbereen Lions Club to the same standard as other events on the National Adventure Race series for Ireland. The Lions Club is a charitable organisation comprised of volunteers from the local community. The Lions Club organise fundraising events for local good causes.
