Primary - Tri Heroes

Cork Sports Partnership and Triathlon Ireland have teamed up to bring the Tri Heroes Programme to Cork. Tri-Heroes gives kids and teenagers the opportunity to complete a triathlon in a fun, learning rich environment. The programme gives an introduction to triathlon skills covering swimming, cycling and running.

The programme is designed to inspire, motivate and challenge students of all ages and can be run during school time or after-hours. This is one of a number of exciting initiatives being developed by Triathlon Ireland to support the introduction of Triathlon to Children, Schools and Young People as a whole.

The programme is aimed at pupils over the age of 8 and is delivered over 4 sessions normally 60minutes in duration. Over the course of each Tri Heroes programme, students learn to swim, bike and run under the instruction of Triathlon Ireland qualified coaches.  Tri Heroes teaches the basics of Triathlon whilst supporting each schools need to deliver the necessary Physical Education progression for all pupils.

What your school & pupils require?

To take part your school must have access to an outdoor space and if possible an indoor hall. Access to a pool is optional and the programme can be tailored for a duathlon without the swim element if required. All children taking part will need a bike and a helmet. Insurance is covered under Triathlon Ireland.

How much does the programme cost?

The programme will cost €5 per pupil which covers the cost of insurance, 4 coaching sessions and entry to Cork Sports Partnership's Splash & Dash Aquathlon Events in May. Upon completion each child will receive a certificate.
