Congratulations to all this year’s successful applicants. Successful applicants are now at stage 2 of the process. Please refer to Sports & Recreational Facilities Resilience Fund Terms & Conditions below for more details of what is involved at stage 2.

WHAT IS THE SPORTS & RECREATIONAL FACILITIES RESILIENCE FUND?

The Fund is part of the government’s response nationally to support the sports sector through COVID-19.  With the support of Sport Ireland Cork Sports Partnership seeks to support, community sports and recreational facilities and amenities. The fund will look to rebuild the capacity of the many community facilities and amenities across Cork City and County.  These facilities and amenities are key to the delivery of sport and physical activity opportunities and events to people of all ages and abilities across Cork Communities.  

WHO IS THE FUND AIMED AT?

This fund is aimed at:

  • Not-for-profit community-based facilities, eg; Community Sports Complexes, Community Centres, Community Halls & Recreational facilities. 
  • Amenity sites that are currently managed by community & voluntary groups. Examples such as parks and playgrounds.
  • Please note that this fund is for NON-SPORTS-CLUB related activities.

HOW MUCH FUNDING IS AVAILABLE?

Community sports, recreational and leisure facilities and amenities can apply for funding of up to €1,500. Cork Sports Partnership will ensure that the investment is distributed fairly. Every effort will be made to ensure that the wider sports community benefits from this scheme. Funding will be awarded through a competitive bid process.

WHAT CAN FACILITIES USE THE FUNDING FOR?

Facilities can use the funding for the following:

  • Training and Education for staff or volunteers
  • Participation Opportunities in Sport & Physical Activity 
  • Equipment and Resource Provision 
  • Communications and Marketing 

Applicants who demonstrate and provide sport & physical opportunities for multiple target groups within the local community will be prioritised.

The Applicant commits to: 

  • Acknowledge receipt of Sports and Recreational Facilities Resilience Fund from Cork Sports Partnership.
  • Use the funding for the purpose outlined in your application.
  • Provide Cork Sports Partnership with proof of expenditure and impacts created by completing a reporting template (Receipts, invoices, and where applicable photographic evidence of items purchased by the funding- may be required) this reporting template will be issued to you in October 2021 and is to be completed by December 10th, 2021.
  • If selected for an audit, arrange a suitable date and time for a member of the Cork Sports Partnership team to visit the facility to document items purchased and or utilised by the funding. 
  • In the event that the funding allocation received is not fully expended by the 26th November 2021, the applicant will commit to make appropriate repayments of unspent allocation to Cork Sports Partnership
Please note the following application guidelines:
What you will need to complete Stage 1 of the process:
  • Completion of the Jot Form document with the updated budgeted expenditure of the funding allocated.
  • Facility Bank Account Details – Please note the bank account must be in the name of the Facility or amenity, personal bank account details will not be accepted.
What you will need to complete Stage 2 of the process:
  • Implement the actions intended as discussed in your application, based on your revised budget. (May – November 2021) 
  • Ensure to record evidence of actions taking place i.e. record number of participants, capture feedback, photographs, equipment purchases proof etc. on an ongoing basis, which can be used in the report. (May – November 2021)
What you will need to complete Stage 3 of the process:
  • Completion of the Jot Form report document outlining a number of key outcomes from the expenditure (E.G. programme numbers from any programmes ran as a result of the funding).
  • Copies of receipts as proof of grant expenditure.
  • Photographs/images of items purchased as part of the grant (where applicable) 
  • All applicants are asked to complete a report outlining the breakdown of expenditure, key outcomes, and successes as a result of receiving the funding.

  • Applicants to submit Resilience Fund Report on or before Friday 10th December

Reporting Deadlines and Key Dates:
  • Letter and Contract of Offer issued by Cork Sports Partnership the week of the 26th April 2021.
  • Stage 1 – The deadline for receipt of the returned contract is 5 pm on Friday 14th May 2021.
  • Stage 2 –  All applicants’ finances must be expended by Friday 26th November and the deadline for receipt of receipts and photo evidence is Friday 10th December 2021.
  • Facility Checks – Any facility visits will be completed by 31st Dec 2021. 

This funding was secured by Sport Ireland through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media in response to COVID-19. 

Training and Education:

  • Providing training and education opportunities for staff, volunteers and any personnel who assist the delivery of sport & physical activity in your facility.   
  • Examples include, but not limited to: Sports Inclusion & Disability Awareness Webinar, Autism in Sport Online Training, Safeguarding, Sports First Aid, Coaching Children & Physical Literacy, WellComm Active Initiatives i.e. Healthy Food Made Easy or Any other training and education your group identify to support a local need.

Participation Opportunities in Sport & Physical Activity:

  • Providing sport and physical activity opportunities for your community.  
  • Examples include, but not limited to:  
    • Enhancing existing programmes / events that are working well for your community i.e. 8-week Physical Activity programmes, Couch to 5K, Yoga, Pilates,Activator Poles, Older Adults Sportsfest, Family Fun Days. Please outline in your application the programme name, duration and frequency of sessions.
    • Linking with local community agencies to provide physical activity programmes / events for your community.
    • Developing new community led programmes / events for your community i.e Couch 2 5ks, Step Challenges/Walking Programme, Yoga or Fitness programmes Please outline in your application the programme name, duration and frequency of sessions.

Equipment and Resource Provision:

  • Providing sport and physical activity equipment to assist delivery of programmes, and / or, COVID-19 Infection Control Measures to ensure safe return to delivery of activities.  
  • Examples include, but not limited to:  
    • Sport & Physical Activity Equipment i.e., cones, beanbags, balls etc.  
    • Resources needed to deliver sports and physical activity programme face to face.
    • Resources needed to deliver sports and physical activity training from your venue i.e., overhead projectors, screens etc. 
    • Covid-19 Hygiene Supplies i.e., sanitisers, face masks, signage etc.  

Communication & Marketing:

  • Providing opportunities to create marketing materials and signage to assist awareness of what is available and promoting all the above opportunities; training and education, participation programme, equipment provision etc. 

Examples include, but not limited to:  

  • Marketing materials i.e., posters, flyers, signage etc.  
  • Photographer/Videographer costs to capture coverage of your programmes / events.
  • Promotional videos and campaigns of your group’s programmes / events.
