Virtual Youth Marathon Youth Challenge 2021

       

Cork Sports Partnership Cork City Council together with Cork ETB are delighted to announce the Virtual Cork City Marathon Youth Challenge for 2021.  This virtual event is a team and individual event open to youth of all fitness levels. While we can’t participate as part of the main relay event this year, we are delighted to support young people across Cork city and county in getting involved in the virtual event for 2021. 

   

What is the Cork City Marathon Youth Challenge 2021

This year, to coincide with the Cork City Marathon, we are encouraging young people to participate in a celebration of running across the week of May 31st to June 6th. With well over 2,000 people already registered for the main event, we are looking for 1,000 young people to join us by signing up to the virtual youth challenge for 2021!

Complete a distance of your choice between the 31st  May to 6th June:

  1. Full Marathon: 26miles/41k is roughly 6k a Day
  2. Half Marathon: 13miles/21k is roughly 3k a Day
  3. Relay Option: Clubs/Groups/Schools/Families have the option of completing either of the above using the Relay Format over one day if preferred.

Why register for the Youth Marathon Challenge 2021

As well the health benefits of participating in such a challenge we are encouraging the youth of Cork to celebrate this wonderful event by walking, jogging or running across the Week of May 31st - June 6th and join the hundreds of other people registered to take in the full/half or team realy events. There are number of other beneftis to getting involved:

  • Support programmes available to groups, schools and individuals looking to prepare for the challenge
  • Online Workshops 
    • Made2Move Mentor Training (for teachers, youth leaders & coaches)- Wednesday May 19th: 3.00pm - 5.00pm
    • Be Ready Running Session (Primary & Secondary Schools)- Thursday May 20th: Primary School Session 1.30pm - 2.10pm, Seconday School Session 2.30pm - 3.10pm
  • Special Guest Check In (Tuesday May 25th) Gues to be announced soon!!
  • Fantastic Spot Prizes for Schools & Groups
  • Goody Bags for the first 200 registered
  • Weekly feedback & progress portal
  • Schools will receive a distance tracker poster 
  • Schools/classes will receive a completion certification
