Cork Volunteer Centre Announcement

Tuesday 24 March 2020

CVC Update

Over the past number of weeks, the Cork Volunteer Centre (CVC) has seen a large increase in the number of volunteers seeking roles in the Cork area due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cork Sports Partnership would like to ask all organisations, clubs and communities looking for volunteers to support community initiatives to register with the CVC. Once you are registered, the awaiting volunteers can be paired with your group.

If you have not already done so, please register your club via the link below:

Please see here for the attached guidelines for community groups undertaking Covid-19 related volunteering activities.

Risk Assessment

It is to be stressed that your organisation, club or community fully considers the potential risks to your volunteers and seek out all necessary information from your insurance company prior to seeking volunteers which will ensure the safety of your volunteers, the vulnerable communities that you assist and lastly for the protection of your organisation from legal, financial and reputational risk.

Garda Vetting

It is imperative that groups include the necessity of Garda Vetting volunteers given their potential contact with vulnerable groups in society.

CVC is aware of the huge contribution local clubs, groups and organisation make throughout Cork. During the current pandemic, they will do all they can to support you. Therefore from the 1st March, there is a reduction in fees for all vetting applications from €7.50/€15.00 to €3.00.

The situation will be reviewed on a month basis and continued for as long as possible. It is also to be noted that all organisations will not be pursued for payment of fees during this time, however monthly invoices will be sent out as normal. As always, CVC will greatly appreciate prompt payment from those who can do so.
