Project Flame

University College Cork launched Project Flame in in 2016 with the goal of enhancing the functional movement skills of adolescents in secondary schools. Vast improvements in fundamental movement patterns and movement skills were seen by students who took part in this intervention.
In 2020 & 2021, Cork Sports Partnership together with UCC are aiming to introduce Project Flame to community based youth sport by providing coach education in Project Flame to volunteer coaches of youth sport in Cork through 2 upcoming online workshops & a follow up focus group.

Pilot Programme Online Workshops (75 minutes each)
Workshop 1 - Monday, November 30th 7pm-8.15pm
- Participants will be introduced to Project Flame
Workshop 2 - Wednesday, December 2nd 7pm-8.15pm
- Participants will be learn about functional & fundamental skills
Follow Up Focus Group - Wednesday 9th December 6pm
Workshop Content:
- Understanding functional & fundamental movement skills
- Importance of functional & fundamental movement skills
- The benefits of physical literacy for young players / athletes
- Utilising digital resources with children & adolescents in your coaching session
- What to consider when coaching children & adolescents the functional & fundamental movement skills
Coaches who attend both workshops & follow up focus group will receive priority access to resources & follow on training opportunities with the Project Flame Team & Cork Sports Partnership
