Boxing

Primary Schools

Cork Sports Partnership and the Irish Athletic Boxing Association have teamed up to bring Start Box to Primary Schools in Cork.

The aim of the programme is to provide 4th, 5th & 6th class primary school children with the opportunity to participate in a fun based, non-contact, inclusive introductory boxing programme.

The programme specifically targets those with little or no experience with a taste of boxing in a supportive and safe environment with a qualified Irish Athletic Boxing Association Regional Community Development Officer.

In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive a 4-week programme of boxing sessions (60 minute per class)

This programme is heavily subsidised by Cork Sports Partnership & the Irish Athletic Boxing Association.

Steps involved in the Application Process

Step 1: School registers 4th, 5th & 6th classes to participate in the Primary Schools Boxing Programme by completing the programme registration form & retuning it to Cork Sports Partnership

Step 2: Registration will be acknowledged by Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 3: Successful schools will be contacted by Cork Sports Partnership to confirm acceptance on to the programme. Unsuccessful schools will be placed on a waiting list for future phases of the programme

Step 4: Following receipt of payment, the Irish Athletic Boxing Association Regional Community Development Officer will contact the successful schools to arrange suitable training days on school grounds

Step 5: The Regional Community Development Officer will deliver the 4 training sessions (60 mins each) as agreed in advance with school
