HEALTHY FOOD MADE EASY ONLINE WORKSHOP

This New Online Healthy Food Made Easy workshop aims to improve participants nutritional knowledge and eating habits. The course content is designed by community dietitians to help participants make affordable, healthier choices when shopping, cooking and eating which in turn can ultimately help reduce diet related conditions and build simple cookery skills.

Who is this workshop for?

Any individual or group can sign-up for the programme.

Previous groups have included young parents, weight-loss groups, men/women living alone with poor cooking skills, adults moving from care into independent living, but the course is adaptable to any group or individual interested in improving their eating and cooking habits.

It is not suitable for groups of young people less than 17yrs.

The face to face course includes a group cooking section at the end of weeks 2-6 and this has been replaced by a cook along and cooking demonstration videos for the online course where participants can practice in their own homes at a time thats convenient.

Participants each receive a HFME digital booklet with course information, healthy eating tips and take home recipes for all the family.

A community dietitian visits the course in week 5 or week 6 to answer any specific dietary questions and queries that arise during the course.

What you will learn:
  • Session 1- ‘Building a Food Pyramid’ (introducing healthy eating guidelines)
  • Session 2- ‘The Fibre Providers’ (Fibre in cereals, fruit & vegetables)
  • Session 3- ‘Focus on Fats’ (learning about the good & bad fats)
  • Session 4- ‘Food for Life’ (family eating, childrens’ diets)
  • Session 5- ‘Shop Smart’ (Shopping on a budget, food labelling)
  • Session 6- ‘The Road Ahead’ (planning long term changes in eating habits)
