 Bike Week Daytime Long Cycle To Ballincollig

A cycle out the Curraheen greenway to Ballincollig Castle and back via the Ballincollig Regional Park. There will be breaks for a picnic at Ballincollig Castle and the Regional Park

Time:  1:30pm-6pm

Location: Meeting point Michael Collins Bike Statue outside the Library on Grand Parade

Suitability: Adults. Will be suitable for all those capable of competent road cycling and covering short/medium distances including older children under supervision or on their parent’s bikes.

Bike Week Tune Trail

A cycle around a selection of the live music free at various locations in the city with stops to hear a few tunes at each stop.

Time: 9pm-2am

Location: Meeting point Michael Collins Bike Statue outside the Library on Grand Parade.

Suitability: Aimed at adult participants including less confident cyclists

 Bike Week Sunset Cycle through The Planets
A guided cycle through the Solar System. From the sun at Patrick’s Bridge to Neptune at Blackrock Castle. We will stop at each Planet, learn a little about it, get a feeling of the vastness of space and have some fun on the way

Time:  7pm-10pm

Date: Monday 12th May 2025

Location: Meeting point Michael Collins Bike Statue outside the Library on Grand Parade.

Suitability: All will be shorter, slower and involve a lot of off-road route and so be particularly suited to less confident cyclists

City Commuter Bike Fitting & Bike Maintenance
Bike fitting station and bike information with The Bike Fit Physio to help bike owners improve their set up of their commuter bikes. It will also help with simple maintenance jobs for bikes.

Time: From 10am

Lehanmore Community Centre – Intro to Safe Cycling 10k
An introductory 10 km cycle session for new cyclists to introduce them to road cycling, bike maintenance, the rules of the road, and cycling hand signals. 

Time: 7pm-9pm

Free Bike Doctor Sessions
Learn how to check your bike, sport problems before they are serious. Be able to fix simple problems like adjusting breaks, changing bread pads or tubes. Or have the Bike Doctor pump your tires, adjust your gears and breaks, oil everything and check everything is in working order!

Get Back on your Bike Clonakilty
Have you been off two wheels for too long and feeling a bit nervous to get ‘Back on Your Bike’? This 2 x 2 hour event is aimed for adults who want to be reacquainted with the roads around Clonakilty on two wheels.

Time:  2pm-4pm

Try a Bike Skibbereen
Try out an electric bike, a cargo bike, a tandem, a recumbrant, tricycles and other bikes. Have a ride in a Trishaw! Different bikes can be tried out on an off road location and on a short on road location. 

Time:  6:30pm-8:30pm

Fix Your Punctures & Tyres Workshop

An intro session on tyres, this will give a better understanding of how they should work, how to avoid and how to repair punctures. The focus will be on helping you to recognise when there are problems, and this may allow you to fix any issues that come up on your bike. Feel free to bring your bike along, we will provide bikes for you to try out the repair work yourself. We will have materials and tools provided.

Intro to Bike Care and Repair

Mechanics from Cork Community Bikes will show you how to check a bike to make sure it’s safe and comfortable to cycle. This will help you be more aware as problems appear and save you money on repairs. Tools will be provided if needed. Bring your bike if you like, or you can learn from our bikes.
