Primary and Secondary Schools

Cork Sports Partnership and Volleyball Ireland coordinate a Volleyball participation programme for Cork Schools.

Volleyball Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership have teamed up to roll out a Cork Primary & Secondary School SpikeBall training and fun county blitz Programme. The programme will run across a limited number of Cork primary and secondary schools between October and December 2019.

The aim of the programme is to introduce 5th & 6th class primary school children and 1st & 2nd year secondary school pupils to the exciting sport of SpikeBall in a fun and inclusive environment.

Volleyball
In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive:
  • Teacher training workshop
  • One of the following options:
    • Option 1: Training Only €15 per teacher e.g. x 2 = €30
    • Option 2: Training (2 teachers) & Equipment Pack & 2 year’s affiliation & online teacher spikeball coaching pack= €100
    • Option 3: Training (2 teachers), Equipment Pack & 2 year’s affiliation & online spikeball teacher coaching pack and Spikeball DVD & 1 free team entry to national championships – Cork County finals starting January = €130
  • Entry to the schools blitz for 5th & 6th classes or 1st & 2nd years in a Cork City venue on 3rd & 4th December 2019 (Volleyball Ireland’s National primary school competition starts in January 2019 – if players are keen to continue)

This programme  is heavily subsidised by Volleyball Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership. This will be payable upon acceptance to the programme.

Steps involved in the Application Process

Step 1: School registers 5th or 6th class or 1st & 2nd year teachers to participate in the programme by completing the programme registration form with Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 2: Registration will be acknowledged by Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 3: Successful teachers will be contacted by Cork Sports Partnership to confirm acceptance on to the programme and invoiced to take part. Unsuccessful schools will be placed on a waiting list for future phases of the programme.

Step 4: Following receipt of payment, Cork Sports Partnership will contact all successful schools with further details regarding the teacher training on 24th October 2019

Step 5: A Volleyball Ireland Licenced Community Coach will deliver the workshop in a Cork City location.

Step 6: A fun SpikeBall Cork blitz will take place on 3rd & 4th December in a Cork City venue.
