Primary and Secondary Schools

Cork Sports Partnership is currently working with Cricket Ireland and Munster Cricket to coordinate a number of exciting school Cricket participation programmes for Cork. 

School Cricket Programmes currently available through Cork Sports Partnership include:

  • Primary – 4 Week Schools Cricket Programme
  • Secondary – TY Coaching Programme

4 Week Cricket Programme

Primary Schools

Cork Sports Partnership and Munster Cricket have teamed up to roll out a Cork Primary Schools Cricket Programme.

The aim of the programme is to introduce 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th class primary school children (Boys, Girls & Mixed) to the sport of Cricket in a fun and supportive environment.

In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive:

  • 4 Coaching Sessions per class group (3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th classes)
  • Cricket Resource Pack
  • FREE Entry for teachers to the 5-11yrs Cricket Ireland Coaching Kids course

This programme is valued at over €550 per school and is heavily subsidised by Cork Sports Partnership and Munster Cricket.

The programme will cost each school €50 to take part in which will be payable upon acceptance to the programme. 

Schools are invited to express an interest in taking part in the programme by completing the online form. 

Steps involved in the Application Process

Step 1: School registers to participate in the Primary Schools Cricket Programme by completing the programme registration form & retuning it to Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 2: Schools Must commit to the following: Delivering cricket sessions as part of your PE programme upon completion. Teachers commit to actively participating in each session with the cricket coach. Teacher(s) commit to attending 5-11yrs Cricket Ireland Coaching Kids course.

Step 3: Registration will be acknowledged by Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 4: Successful schools will be contacted by Cork Sports Partnership to confirm acceptance on to the programme and invoiced €50 to take part. Unsuccessful schools will be placed on a waiting list for future phases of the programme.

Step 5: Following receipt of payment, a Munster Cricket Coach will contact the successful schools to arrange suitable training days in the school.

Step 6: A Munster Cricket Coach will deliver the 5 training sessions per class group as agreed in advance with school.

Step 7: Munster Cricket will provide a link to a local club for interested participants. Munster Cricket will also confirm the Coaching Kids workshop date which schools have a free place on as part of the programme.

TY Coaching Programme

Secondary Schools

Cork Sports Partnership and Munster Cricket have teamed up to roll out a Cork Secondary Schools Cricket Programme. This programme will run across a limited number of Cork Secondary Schools from September 2021.

The aim of the programme is to introduce Transition Year students and Secondary School PE Teachers to the sport of Cricket in a fun and supportive environment.

In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive:

  • One teacher and 4 TY places on the Cricket Coaching course
  • Cricket Resource Pack
  • Coaching and blitz day resources
  • Munster Cricket will provide a link to a local club for interested participants

This programme is valued at over €300 per school and is heavily subsidised by Cork Sports Partnership and Munster Cricket. The programme will cost each school €50 to take part in which will be payable upon acceptance to the programme. 

Steps involved in the Application Process

Step 1: School registers 1 Teacher & 4 TYs to participate in the Secondary Schools Cricket Programme by completing the online form at the bottom of this page

Step 2: Schools must commit to the following: Delivering cricket sessions as part of your PE programme upon completion fo the coaching course

Step 3: Registration will be acknowledged by Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 4: Successful schools will be contacted by Cork Sports Partnership to confirm acceptance on to the programme and invoiced €50 to take part. Unsuccessful schools will be placed on a waiting list for future phases of the programme.

Step 5: Following receipt of payment, Cork Sports Partnership will update registered schools with course details (venue, date, time)

Step 6: A Munster Cricket Coach will deliver the coaching course on the given date

Step 7: Teachers and TYs will work together to deliver cricket sessions to their 1st and 2nd year students including an internal school blitz 

Step 8: Munster Cricket will provide a link to a local club for interested participants.
