New Outdoor Gym Sessions Cork City

Come & Try Free Outdoor Gym Sessions

Following a pilot programme to provide people with the confidence and skills to use the gyms, a series of free sessions, delivered by trained instructors, are being offered to the public. These sessions will be open to all ages and abilities, with some targeted at young women. These sessions aim to give people the knowledge and the confidence to come to these gyms on their own, with a friend, a parent or a sibling and use themselves!

Wednesdays:

  • Starting Wed, 19th July | Gerry O’Sullivan Park | 4-5pm | 4 weeks
  • Starting Wed, 26th July | Tramore Valley Park | 11.15am-12.15pm | 4 weeks

Thursdays:

  • Starting Thurs, 20th July | John O’Callaghan Park, Glanmire | 10am-11am | 4 weeks
  • Starting Thurs, 20th July | Lough Mahon (Blackrock Castle Car Park ‘B’) Castle Road, Blackrock | 11.45am-12.45pm | 4 weeks
  • Starting Thurs, 20th July | Murphy’s Farm, Bishopstown | 4-5pm | 4 weeks

Fridays:

  • Starting Fri, 21st July | (Female Only) Tramore Valley Park | 12.30-1.30pm | 4 weeks

This programme is starting off with five locations, Gerry O’Sullivan Park, Tramore Valley Park, John O’Callaghan Park, Murphy’s Farm and Lough Mahon but will be rolled out to other areas in due course.

Cork City Council Installs 11 New Outdoor Gyms

Cork City Council, in association with Cork Sports Partnership and Cork Education and Training Board, are in the process of installing eleven new outdoor gyms in public parks around the city. These clustered Callisthenic Gyms, with age-friendly and accessible elements, have proven very popular at Tramore Valley Park, Harty’s Quay and Ballincollig Regional Park. The new locations are:

  • Clougheenmilcon Sanctuary Walkway, Blarney
  • Gerry O’Sullivan Park, St Colmcille’s Road, Gurranabraher
  • John O’Callaghan Park, Ballinglanna, Glanmire
  • Lough Mahon (Blackrock Castle Car Park ‘B’), Castle Road, Blackrock
  • Murphy’s Farm, Bishopstown
  • Popham’s Park, Farranferris Green, Farranree
  • Callycannon Park, Clogheen/Kerrypike
  • Clashduv Park
  • Tory Top Park
  • The Lough
