Walk21 Satellite Event

Cork Sports Partnership and Get Ireland Walking are delighted to announce that we are partnering with Cork City Council and Walk21 to host a Walk21 Satellite Event in Cork city on the 23rd of September from 10am till 3pm in Nano Nagle.
What is Walk21?
Walk21 is an international conference. TUDublin is hosting the 22nd International Walk21 Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities from the 19th to the 23rd September 2022. International delegates from around the world will get together to discuss the built environment that will allow more people to walk, more often in their own communities. Walk21 Ireland will explore how supporting and encouraging walking and walkable communities can help deliver the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. It will focus on a number of themes:
  • Theme 1: Evidence-based Walking Actions
  • Theme 2: Active Places for People
  • Theme 3: Including All People Walking
  • Theme 4: The Decade to Change
What’s happening in Cork?
In Cork we want to highlight the work that has taken place in recent times to create walkable communities at a local level. This satellite event will be of interest to: researchers, community and health workers, government agencies, walking leaders and anyone who has an interest in and simply enjoys, walking in urban or rural settings. There will be a number of interesting presentations in the morning, lunch and an interactive walk around Cork city will follow.
