A free social cyclist picnic in Fitzgerald’s park with bike games, a bike doctor, music, goodies and a free picnic lunch.

Cork Through The Spokes
In association with Cork Folklore Project. Come to share your Oral History of Cycling in Cork in the past. Do you remember the bike delivery boys, do you have a story about cycling down Patrick’s Hill? We’d love to hear about that and anything else, come join us for a chat.

 Bike Week Cycle To Killeens
A North side orbital cycle just beyond the urban edge showing quite routes around the Northwest of the city relatively short but hilly with a picnic break.

Time:  2:30pm-6pm

Location: Fitzgerald’s park

Suitability: Adults, will be marketed and themed to appeal in particular to cycle commuters and residents in the central City area, Cobh, and along the route. Will be suitable for all those capable of competent road cycling and covering short/medium distances including older children under supervision or on their parent’s bikes.

Bike Douglas Street
An event for businesses of Cork to discuss making their businesses and the city friendlier to cycling. We will have bikes on hand for a guided cycle of the area as well as a sampling of treats from local businesses.

Bike Week Bat Cycle To Ballincollig
In collaboration with biodiversity week. A cycle out to Ballincollig regional park out along the river the Mardyke and Lee Fields. There will be a break for a picnic before the journey back to the city, as the sun sets there will be opportunities for bat watching. Participants will have an opportunity to use a bat detector.

Lunchtime Loop with eBike Ease
Cork Bike Hire – Getting the workforce active in the middle of the day – Refresh, Recharge, and Return Ready to Conquer the Afternoon!”  Participants cycle the Cork Harbour Greenway or part of it during their lunchtime on an ebike. Pending on the time available to participants a route will be suggested to them.

Rebel Wheelers Duathlon Event in Association with Triathlon Ireland
Open up the idea of participating in Duathlon and Triathlon Events to those with physical disabilities, Hoping to hold the event in the Crann Centre in Ovens again this year with members and their families partaking in bike training and running, pushing etc.  We would have training drills and finish with a mini duathlon event.

Biodiversity Cycle Kinsale
Community cycle visiting local sites of high biodiversity value, to encourage cycling and an appreciation for biodiversity. Community cycle to local sites of high biodiversity value. Plan is to visit 2 or 3 sites. A professional ecologist, who has undertaken a biodiversity survey in recent times, will give a short talk at each site. The exact sites will be finalised closer to the time, but are likely to include a local marsh area and a local wooded area. Light refreshments will be provided free to participants.

Just For Men Greenway Cycle Session
To engage men in outdoor, health programs in the local community, following on from a successful program in 2023 we are running another 6 week @ Just for Men’ health program. The 6 weeks will incorporate different activities available to men n the Youghal area. For Bike Week Cork included a Greenway cycle using electric bikes during bike week into the program again this year.

Bike Week Inniscarra 
To promote the benefits of cycling among the community of Inniscarra, This year the 4 schools in the Parish are invited to get involved and further promote safe cycling and the health benefits. Each of the school are assigned a project which will be presented in the Hall of the Community Centre. McCarthys Cycles will also hold a bike workshop on the Wednesday

Cork County Council Library & Arts Service 
Bike Week Design a t-shirt competition & Bike Sense ‘Cycling for everyone’ workshop x 2/3. To promote cycling as a form of recreation for children & Educate public on bike care and maintenance. Art competition would be promoted thoughout the library branch network, as well as directly to Primary schools in Cork County. The children would be invited to submit a drawing, with a cycling related theme, with the chance that each branch winner would have their design printed on a t-shirt for them to keep & Educate workshop attendees on to how care and maintain their bikes.

Fixing Bikes With Afghan Refugees
The group of refugees will be invited to bring bikes along and mechanics from Cork Community Bikes will show them how to check a bike to make sure it’s safe and comfortable to cycle. An Afghan interpreter will help with this. Mechanics will carry out minor repairs on the bikes. No problem if you don’t have a bike with you, you can learn from other bikes.
