Cork Play Leader Workshop

Play Leader Workshop

As part of the Active Cities Project, Cork Sports Partnership is delighted to partner with the Cork Playful Paradigm networking group members to invite you and the community leaders you work with to attend our next Play Leader Workshop. The Play Leader Workshop was developed in collaboration with the Cork Play Paradigm group members to support a sustainable model for play activity in local communities.

What is the Playful Paradigm?

The Playful Paradigm uses play and gamification as an innovative concept for promoting social inclusion, healthy lifestyles, intergenerational & cultural mediation, place-making & economic prosperity. Play offers new strategies for engaging cities and towns stakeholders in urban development.

At a European level, Cork is part of URBACT transfer network involving 7 other European Cities. The focus of the network is to share and develop several key action areas around the area of play.

In October, we welcomed 5 towns from across Ireland (Donegal Town, Sligo Town, Portlaoise, Rush, and Rathdrum) to Cork as part of the Playful Paradigm National Practice Transfer Initiative. This initiative aims to transfer the excellent practice adapted by a lead city involved in a URBACT transfer network and collaborate on new and exciting projects and initiatives.

Who is the workshop aimed at?

The workshop is aimed at parents, teachers, community volunteers, community development staff, or anyone with an interest in promoting and organising play activities and events for their local community.

What are some of the benefits of the workshop to the communities you work with?

The workshop offers community members the opportunity to gather the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and coordinate safe, accessible, and enjoyable play opportunities for their local community.

The workshop is delivered over two evenings online, followed by an optional practical play session.
